Cotoneaster (Cotoneaster vulgaris/integerrimus)

Native from Europe and Asia, for many years, it has been used in Colorado to
embellish private yards and city parks. Now, it can be found in the wilderness
as well. The berries are rich in vitamins. The roots and stems are rich in minerals,
starch and sugars. However, the berries, or a tea made with them and/or the
leaves/stems, should be consumed as a medicine, not as food, because of its high
laxative effects. It helps to relieve pain, as well as to reduce fever, swelling and
irritation. It also might help the gall-bladder to function properly (depending on
the person and circumstances).
